This website is the official website of the National Hairston Clan, Inc. This organization was formed to preserve the history and legacy of our family. We are proud to be the largest family in the United States and as we continue to grow so does our deeply rooted history. The Hairston family tree is rooted in Scotland, Ireland, England and West Africa. The earliest Hairstons known to have arrived to the shores of America in 1695. The Hairstons eventually spread throughout Virginia, Mississippi & North Carolina. By the time of the Civil War the Hairstons, owned 10,000 slaves and forty plantations and farms. These slaves were descendents of various tribes of Africa, they were captured and brought to America against their will to provide chep labor know as “Black Gold”. This is the historical starting point of our family and this site will provide a host of information about the pass, present and future of the Hairston family. This site pays tribute to the many Hairstons black and white who have gone before us and we hope you will enjoy looking into our history and the kinship that we share as a family. We are committed to the educational, cultural and economical advancement of our adults and youth.
