DAVIDSON COUNTY CHAPTER

OF THE HAIRSTON CLAN

Lexington, North Carolina

The Davidson County Chapter of the Hairston Clan, Lexington, North Carolina is overwhelmed with enthusiasm on traveling to the West Coast. All year, plans have been in motion to encourage, promote, and persuade as many as possible to embark upon this wonderful experience.

Our president, Verona Bell, has spearheaded many activities and covered many areas in making sure everything is sufficiently in place.  Her initiative not only covers the upcoming reunion, but also building upon family inspiration and unity in the community as well.

Our Chapter meets on the first Saturday of each month at the Buncombe Baptist Church (Petersville Community).  Membership has grown steadily. During our meetings, emphasis is continuously stressed upon participation in all of the local events as well as encouraging and motivating others to become a part of this union.

Many activities are planned to help deter the cost to California.  Calendars (2006) have been sold.  The chapter is presently planning a rainbow tea, Spring Gala, a baby contest, and more.

Our goals are to make a difference, (COMING TOGETHER) and to bring and build upon family relationships within the community as well as reaching out to others.  Also, to encourage the participation of the younger generation, (especially teenagers), in an effort to perpetuate our strong family heritage and traditions in years to come.

Our officers are:

     President – Verona Bell

     Vice President – Eugene Hairston

     Secretary – Louise Arnett

     Assistant Secretary –  Mary Hairston

     Financial Secretary – Iva Hairston
